Title: The pronouns in a journal entry can change its tone
Post by: themonthly on Oct 30, 2026, 04:11 PM
I've noticed I sometimes write to myself as 'you' when I'm trying to work something out, but switch back to 'I' when I'm simply recording what happened. The details might be much the same, yet one voice feels like a nudge and the other like a straightforward account. I hadn't realised how much that small choice changes the tone until I started noticing it in older entries.
