Fountain Pens & Ink / A fountain pen isn't automatic...

A spare only helps if you can find it. Mine stays in the same pocket of my pencil case, or it vanishes into the depths of my bag between lessons.

Journaling / Journaling more during a rough...

I don't think feeling worse automatically means you need to write more. When a week is already draining most of my energy, a big journal entry can feel like another task I'm failing to keep up with. A few plain lines, or leaving the journal shut, seems more realistic than treating a full page as proof I'm coping.

I bought a small pack of page flags recently, and I've already used them more than some of the sticker sheets sitting in my drawer. I stick one on a page whenever there's something I need to come back to, then move or remove it when I'm done.

I still buy decorative stickers, but I'm trying to be more selective about those. Page flags are something I know I'll actually reach for.

Rings & Discs / Do discbound pages wear out if...

The strain is more likely to come from taking pages off and putting them back on than from ordinary page-turning. Remove a page from one disc at a time rather than tugging at one corner; that should be gentler on the punched edges.

Unpopular Opinions / A Passport-size TN collection ...
Last post by passportpages - Oct 21, 2026, 09:38 AM
I like having a small, practical Passport TN that I actually carry around, but I also like collecting covers and inserts that probably won't ever become part of that setup. I used to feel like I needed a reason to buy another one, as though it had to replace something I already owned.

Now I'm fine admitting that sometimes I just want it for the collection. Not every stationery purchase needs to make my planning system more efficient.

Notebooks & Paper / Moleskine opinions might depen...
Last post by becca_m - Oct 21, 2026, 06:08 AM
I keep seeing Moleskine described as either a classic notebook or a complete disappointment, and I wonder how much of that comes down to the pens people use. I mostly write with pencils and ballpoints, so things like feathering and bleed-through aren't usually what I'm judging a notebook on.

Has anyone found that their opinion of Moleskine changed when they switched pens, or do you think the paper itself is the bigger issue?

Fountain Pens & Ink / A fountain pen isn't automatic...

I keep a gel pen in the front pocket of my bag for exactly that reason. If my fountain pen runs out of ink halfway through the day, I can just grab the backup and carry on taking notes.

I'm starting to think of fountain pens as something I enjoy using, rather than automatically the best choice for school. When I'm trying to keep up with notes in class, a gel pen is often easier. I don't have to think about the paper, whether the ink will dry quickly enough, or what happens if someone needs to borrow it. I still like using a fountain pen when I have more time to write.

I recently picked up a replacement insert for my Traveler's Notebook and resisted adding a folder and a couple of extras. The setup already works, and more bulk would make it less pleasant to carry. I only needed the insert.

The annual Hobonichi lineup can make it feel as if choosing a cover is part of choosing whether to use the planner at all. I think it's perfectly fine when none of the designs grabs me. A cover I only feel lukewarm about isn't a good reason to buy into a format I might not use, and skipping a year keeps the decision simple.
