Would tinted dot-grid paper work for everyday notes?

I've been considering a dot-grid notebook with coloured paper, but I use quite a few muted inks and worry the tint could make them harder to read. For everyday notes, I'd want the grid and writing to stay clear in ordinary light, not just look good in a swatch. How do you judge that before committing to a whole notebook?

A side-by-side check will tell you more than a swatch: write the same muted ink on a tinted sample and white paper, then compare them under your usual lighting once dry. A full page can look quite different from a little test.

If the notebook comes in a modular system, try one tinted refill alongside a familiar insert first. That gives you a chance to check the contrast and eye comfort in everyday light before committing to more.

Use the palest ink you actually reach for, in your usual small handwriting. If that stays readable against the tint and the dots don't compete, darker inks are less likely to be an issue. My favorite ink is not the useful test case; it's the faint one I keep insisting is perfectly readable.
