Adding a patch to a TN cover without making it permanent

I'm thinking about adding a small fabric patch to my Traveler's Notebook cover, but I'd rather not put glue straight on the leather in case I change my mind. Has anyone found a way to keep a patch in place through everyday use without making it difficult to remove?

A thin fabric panel wrapped around the cover and held with elastic keeps the patch off the leather; sew the patch onto the panel instead. It adds a little bulk, but the whole piece comes off if you change your mind.

That removable panel keeps the leather out of the equation. Check it with the TN closed and packed as usual too, so a loose wrap doesn't creep round when you're handling it.
