A year on the cover can make an unfinished journal feel done

A year printed on the cover can make a journal feel like it has an expiry date, even if there are plenty of pages left. I'd rather keep the year inside, where January doesn't make the rest of the book look like unfinished business.

A year on the spine is handy for finding old journals later, but a removable label gives you that without making the cover feel like a deadline.
