Light paper or thicker paper for brush markers?

I'm trying to pick a small notebook to carry for quick notes, but I'd also like to use brush markers in it sometimes. Lightweight paper seems better for carrying and writing on both sides, while thicker paper sounds less frustrating for markers. I don't want to leave every back blank. Do you pick one paper type, or keep marker pages to one side?
