A fountain pen surviving a fall is luck, not a durability rating

A pen surviving one drop doesn't tell me much about its durability. The surface and landing matter too much; one lucky bounce isn't exactly a meaningful stress test.

A one-off drop tells me less than whether the cap and clip stay secure in day-to-day use. If those start loosening, the pen's a nuisance long before it needs to survive a dramatic landing.
