A broad nib for drawing uses ink differently than a fine nib for notes

I was thinking about how long an ink bottle lasts, and calendar time seems like a pretty poor comparison. A broad nib used for drawing can go through ink during a few long sessions, while a fine nib used for everyday notes may stretch the same amount across months. The way you use a pen probably matters more than how often you pick it up.

Counting how many fills a bottle provides is a fairer comparison than counting months, though fill sizes vary, and ink left in the pen or used for cleaning can skew the count too.

Counting refills in the same pen gives me a more useful rough estimate than comparing across pens, without tracking every drop left behind.
