I keep losing track of which notebook has the note

I was looking for a measurement I'd jotted down and ended up checking three notebooks. I don't mind having a few on the go, but the little scraps of useful information seem to migrate wherever there's a spare page. Now I'm wondering if I need to be stricter about what goes where, rather than starting another list in the nearest notebook.

You could leave rough notes where they first land, and give reusable facts like measurements one reference home. When you transfer one, add the units and what it measures so it still makes sense later.
