I used to like the idea of one huge blank notebook so I wouldn't have to decide when to start the next one. Lately I prefer a notebook I can actually finish and put away. The grand solution was apparently more pages to carry around.

I prefer to finish one before moving on. Dating entries makes older notes easier to find later, without keeping years' worth in a single volume.

Dating entries helps, and the date range on the cover is handy once it's finished. Otherwise the search just moves from the page to the shelf.
