A removable layer for decorating a Hobonichi cover

I like personalizing a Hobonichi cover, but I don't want to commit to stickers directly on it. I'm thinking of arranging them on a small card behind a clear cover instead, so I can switch things up without peeling anything off. Do you decorate the cover itself, or use a removable layer?

The removable card gets my vote. A slim border around the stickers could make it feel like a little cover design, rather than stickers just tucked under the clear cover.

The removable card is my pick. A small piece of washi on the back can keep it from shifting under the clear cover without sticking anything to the Hobonichi itself.
