Notebook extras don't tell me much about the paper

When I compare notebooks, a cloth cover, pocket or ribbon marker can make one feel more substantial, but none of that tells me whether I'll enjoy writing on the paper. I'd rather spend the comparison time on how the pages feel and handle ink than treat a higher price or fancier finish as a sign of better paper.
